Over 60% of adults wear glasses, yet 20% of vehicle crashes are linked to not wearing prescription eyewear when required. More than 60% of glasses wearers experience significant fogging, rising to 85% when worn alongside a mask. These issues are especially pronounced for healthcare workers, who must wear both glasses and masks for extended periods, but also affect the general public, with dirty lenses, persistent fogging, and maintenance difficulties often discouraging consistent use.
Specula was developed in response to this data, offering a pair of glasses with an integrated lens-cleaning system built into the arms, allowing users to clean their lenses quickly and safely on the go. The design also incorporates anti-fogging lenses and an integrated cleaning spray to further improve clarity and usability.
